Bread
In February 2005, the Open Door Cafe debuted the Bakery Next Door.
The original concept was to serve good coffee, great pastries, and a comfortable and cozy neighborhood environment. Along the way something special happened. During a transitional period of changing pastry chefs, we were given the wonderful opportunity of providing fresh baked bread for George Reiss at Ocean. This was a pivotal moment for the bakery as it lead to a complete restructuring of the business.
With the help and direction of chefs, Sam Ragland and Heather and Amanda Guarino, we were able to focus our attention to providing the best bread to the best restaurants in town. Frank Stitt hires us to provide bread for all three of his restaurants in town, Highlands Bar and Grill, Chez Fonfon, and Bottega. We also provide the bread for The Veranda on Highland, Bottletree, The Grape in southside, the Summitt, and J. Clyde on Cobb Lane.
We can do special orders for individuals with a 24 hour notice. A wide variety of different bread is baked fresh everyday ranging from traditional french baguettes to olive and sundried tomato loaves. Please contact us to receive more information at 205-879-6659.
